David Kotei a.k.a D.K "Poison" ,Ghana's first ever world champion among all sports disciplines. After winning his world title fight against Ruben Olivares in 1975 ,the government of Ghana led by Col. Acheampong borrowed his prize money $45,000 to import mackerel into the country. It's been 41 years now and no government has attempted to refund his money irrespective of his numerous appeals and petitions to successive governments. He is currently lying sick at the hospital still waiting for his $45 000. Meanwhile we've had and still have some corrupt government appointees who are paid and yet still syphon millions of dollars from the state coffers. He cries anytime he speaks about this issue.
Is Ghana worth a country to die for??Let’s hear your views on lifestyle Africa media platform.

It makes my heart sick when people sacrifice for their country and yet being ignored..... This is inhuman.
ReplyDeleteI pray God send him help.
Yeah it is really sad to sacrifice and be neglected

That's the kind of country we find ourselves in. A country whose great names die like paupers. Something sensible must be done. Great piece of writing!

DeleteNo other citizen can die for Ghana, unless Ghanaians themselves, therefore "Ghana is worth dieing for" if we really want to mak a better place for ourselves and generations to come,,.. As a country we need to combat Corruption, so that evry citizen will be paid worth what he or she deserves

ReplyDeleteIts so sad but one has to die, fight for this country no matter the issue is or maybe..that makes you a patriotic citizen ..
On the other hand there should be a scheme that sees to that all the aged in our country who needs help so be provided ...
It's high time we the youth comes together to fight for such things to stop than rather putting the state money into their pocket n use it on "unfoolishe" things...
ReplyDeleteSure we need to be vigilant as citizens, thanks for ur input

DeleteIt's a pity, the media today should focus on important issues such as this than to make so much unnecessary noice, especially the sports guy's ,they talk about only football and the GFA boss, thanks to this medium, I hope help comes for him quickly, keep it up!
DeleteThanks for ur input bro
ReplyDeleteGhana's leaders are not serious, they just a bunch of liar and thieves and it's not worth dying for Ghana kuraaaa
ReplyDeleteBut can't anything be done about cos we are in the 21st century and such nonsense got to stop
It’s got to stop,we need to respect each other in respective of our positions
ReplyDeleteA nation which does not honour his heroes is not worth dying for, this statement is true and any one who want to 'die' or go all out for Ghana will definitely consider how past heroes have been treated.
ReplyDeleteI simply don't get it when we can not honour the people who sacrificed for Ghana.
For me I believe in the 'for God and country' motivation, so even if Ghana as a nation will not honour my efforts, I know God will; so I will still do my best (die) for Ghana.
Thanks for the input
